Erectile Dysfunction Treatment

Erectile dysfunction, or ED, is a common condition that affects millions of men. However, it can be difficult for men to open up about their ED with their doctor.

ED can be caused by a range of conditions, including vascular (blood flow) problems, neurologic issues and hormonal imbalances. It can also be a side effect of certain medications.

Medications

Many medications, including drugs that treat a wide range of conditions, can cause erectile dysfunction (ED). For example, some antidepressants can decrease sexual function, while others can increase ED.

Some medications can affect a man's hormones, nerves or blood circulation. These include nitrates used for heart disease, certain diuretics and antihypertensives.

Your GP can usually help diagnose erectile dysfunction by talking with you and doing some simple tests. They will also ask about your medical and sexual history to find out what may be causing the problem.

PDE type-5 inhibitors are the most common ED treatment pills and they work by increasing blood flow to your penis. You take one or two of these tablets an hour or so before having sex.

Alprostadil is another erectile dysfunction treatment that uses a needle and syringe to inject a medicine directly into the erection chambers of your penis. It has a high success rate for getting a firm erection for sex and is particularly useful for men who do not respond to other oral ED treatments.

Vacuum pumps

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common problem that can affect men of all ages. The underlying cause of ED is a problem with blood flow to the erection-producing tissue in your penis called the corpora cavernosa.

When you feel sexually aroused, your nervous system sends signals to your muscles that relax and promote the flow of blood to your erectile tissue. This helps you achieve and maintain a healthy erection, and can increase your chances of having intercourse.

Vacuum pumps are a type of erectile dysfunction treatment that uses mardana takat. They are noninvasive and can be used alone or with other ED treatments.

Before using a vacuum pump, you should see a doctor to determine whether or not it is safe for you. They may also recommend a specific model of pump that's likely to be effective and safe for you. Be sure to choose a model that has a vacuum limiter -- this feature limits the amount of negative pressure in the vacuum to help reduce your risk of injury.

Sex therapy

Sex therapy is a type of counseling that can help you improve your sexual performance and relationship. It can also help you determine if erectile dysfunction is caused by an underlying psychological concern.

Typically, your therapist will ask you about your sexual history and what you’re trying to accomplish during therapy sessions. They may assign “homework” -- practical exercises that you’re expected to complete in the privacy of your own home between sessions.

Your therapist may also ask you about your physical health and other concerns that might be contributing to your dysfunction. If they suspect a physical issue is at work, they will likely refer you to a medical doctor, who can help address any underlying concerns while guiding you toward your goals.

A good therapist will be there to listen, provide insight and support you as you try to change your life. They can also offer you guidance and help you develop coping skills.

Surgery

Erectile dysfunction is a common problem that can affect men of all ages. It can be caused by a number of conditions including disease, injury and hormonal changes.

For some men, surgery is a viable option for treating ED. This is a procedure that can improve blood flow to the penis and help prevent future problems with erections.

One type of ED treatment involves a surgical implant, which is placed inside the penis. This can be a semirigid or inflatable device that is made to look natural.

The surgical procedure takes about an hour, and the healing period can be four to six weeks. After that, you can resume sexual activity as long as you follow your doctor’s instructions.
