Cholesterol Medicines

Currently, a number of medicines are available for cholesterol. These include statins, resins, and fibrates. Each type of medicine has its own unique benefits.

Resins

Several types of cholesterol lowering medicines exist, including bile acid resins, fatty acids, and statins. Some of these medicines work in similar ways, such as increasing bile output, decreasing cholesterol levels, or blocking cholesterol transporters. However, they vary in their effectiveness, and can have different side effects. They can be used in combination with other medications. Some of them are available in pill form, but they must be mixed with a liquid before consumption.

Resins as cholesterol medicines are not something most people are castrol ka ilaj. They are typically marketed as dietary supplements, and may be prescribed in addition to other cholesterol-lowering medicines. They are not generally used to treat hyperlipidemia, but may be used to lower cholesterol levels in people with other conditions. The best way to find out if you're a good candidate is to consult with a physician.

Fibrates

Among the many cholesterol medicines, fibrates are widely prescribed. These drugs work to lower cholesterol levels, especially triglycerides. They are also used for dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes. They are often prescribed in combination with statins. They are safe and well tolerated.

Fibrates work by activating a class of intracellular receptors known as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs). These receptors control carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism, as well as adipose tissue differentiation.

The main effects of fibrates are to decrease triglyceride levels and increase HDL cholesterol. They also reduce the synthesis of VLDL, increase cellular fatty acid uptake, and activate the lipoprotein lipase gene. The increase in HDL precursors caused by this therapy reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Fibrates can be used in combination with statins to reduce LDL cholesterol. However, fibrates are not as effective as statins in lowering LDL cholesterol. They also have a small risk of muscle damage.

Bile acid sequestrants

Bile acid sequestrants (BAS) are a class of medicines that help to lower cholesterol levels in the blood. They are usually used in combination with other lipid lowering agents. However, they may also be used on their own. Bile acid sequestrants are not as commonly prescribed as statins. They are not as effective at lowering cholesterol as statins, but they can still help you manage your lipid levels.

Bile acid sequestrants may also interact with certain medications. Before starting treatment with these medicines, it is important to talk to your doctor about any medications you may be taking. If you are taking medications for other health problems, they should also be taken at least a few hours before bile acid sequestrants.

Some bile acid sequestrants can interfere with the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. If you are taking medications for an illness that causes vitamin deficiency, you may need to take these medicines before or after your bile acid sequestrants.

Ezetimibe

Ezetimibe is a cholesterol medicine that works by blocking cholesterol from passing through the walls of the small intestine. This reduces the amount of cholesterol that is absorbed and allows more cholesterol to be cleared from the blood. This reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Ezetimibe is used for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolaemia, a condition where cholesterol levels are high. When ezetimibe is used as a part of a cholesterol-lowering diet, it can help patients reach their target cholesterol level. It is also used for patients who don't respond to statins.

Before using ezetimibe, patients should talk to their doctor. They should also follow a healthy lifestyle. This includes eating a low cholesterol diet and exercising regularly. If they experience muscle pain, diarrhoea that lasts more than a week, or unexplained muscle weakness, they should call their doctor or go to the hospital.

Statins

Several cholesterol medicines, including statins, are prescribed for heart disease and other health conditions. These medicines lower cholesterol levels in the blood, and can protect against heart attacks and strokes. However, they aren't without risks.

Statins can cause side effects, including muscle pain and liver damage. Some of these side effects go away as the body adjusts to the medicine.

Statins work by blocking the HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme in the liver, which is responsible for making cholesterol. If the enzyme is not blocked, cholesterol can build up inside the liver and arteries. This buildup, known as atherosclerosis, can lead to heart attack and stroke.

People who are high risk for heart attack should cholesterol kam karne ki dawa. These medications lower LDL cholesterol in the blood. They can also lower the risk of heart failure and stroke.
